Sun a Fun 2012
New Tempe Airport, Bloemfontein
We officially launched Sonex Africa on 10/11/2012 at the yearly EAA Chapter 1503’s Sun and Fun fly inn at the New Tempe airport in Bloemfontein. The weekend could not have been better, as we hoped the weather was great and Saturday morning brought perfect flying conditions with lots of eager aviation enthusiasts starting to arrive from early in the morning.

There was more than 70 aircraft of all kinds that attended the event and what seemed like most of the Bloemfontein population made it to the event. The event gave visitors the opportunity to look at their favourite aircraft from up close and get information about all aviation topics from flying lessons to engine spec’s, even helicopter flights were available.

Our stand was visited by everyone from legendry local aviation icon, Kassie Kasselman to fellow aircraft loving individuals that dream of getting their wings and exploring the skies.

The event was ran by Capital sound commentator Brian Emmenis that is known country wide  for his voice at all air shows and aviation events and we were honoured that he took interest in us and gave us the opportunity to introduce the Sonex to the public in a live interview that was broadcast across the grounds.

We met up with some Sonex owners and interested builders from all over the country exchanging stories and experiences from flying to building aircraft bringing the true love and passion we all share for aviation to a contagious level.
We are looking forward to increasing the Sonex numbers at every  event we attend, showing the flying community what a great, affordable aircraft we have the privilege to fly.

The organizer and convener, Jack Onderstal organized an exceptional event and the turnout and atmosphere was fantastic. Congratulations to all the prize winners of the event.

We will without doubt be attending next year’s event.

Till then Safe Flying.
